Sighhhh….

Tag: Uncategorizedammogirl @ 10:05 am

Gosh, you guys, when it rains, it freaking pours, that’s for sure. Check it, yo: A) Last week, John got a small dent fixed in the Scion, but today he noticed that between then and now, the car got dented again, and scraped up by what looks like a bike. B) The transmission in the Honda is going out, and C) Stupid taxes – the IRS wants $1400 from us. Why, people, must all of this occur this particular week? This, the most worst week ever? The week where, if I am going to spend $4000, I want it to be on dessert-related items only? Or…Cheetos?

Of course, John reminded me of the things that really matter: great family, great friends, healthy/happy/lots o’ love. Of course, I knew this already, because of the well wishes I got after yesterday’s post. Y’all are the best, for realz. *sniff*

Oh, here’s something mega cool: John is signing up to do this. I am so super proud of him! You should send him an email and wish him luck! I have to say, I’m a little jealous that I won’t be there to do it too, but… well… I’m not exactly what one would call a fish in the water, unless that fish is, um, dead. I mean, I can get around and everything, but…ahhh…I don’t think I’d do well in a competition. John is speed of sound fast though, at running AND swimming, and I’m positive he has mad biking skilz. The next thing you know, you’ll be hearing about John Williams, the Ironman 2007 winner. My man, y’all, he’s the best.

I wanted to remind you I have tomorrow off, and it will be filled with such exciting things as: Laundry! Homework! and Cleaning! So you will have to forgive me if I don’t post…And as a matter of fact, just in case I don’t, I want to continue with the March Birthday shoutouts - Saturday March 25th is my brother in law Brian’s bday.  Brian is the best wakeboard tutor ever, and I remember one drunken night long ago (six years, jeez…) in Reno, when we were both just the "significant others" of John and Christy, and I said something like "we’re going to know each other forever!!!"  but much…slurrier.  To this day, Brian still has the same look when he talks to me as he did that night, and that look says:  Treena, you are wierd.  Love you, B!  Happy Birthday!  Now, y’all, unless something amazing happens in the laundry room, I’ll be taking the night off – have a great weekend!!

Is it chocolate covered?

Tag: Uncategorizedammogirl @ 10:24 am

Ughhh my stupid leg issue issues are so annoying. I couldn’t even go running this morning. I mean, I woke up, got dressed, and made it halfway to the gym, but it was like this: step OW step OW step OW… so I started back for the dorm, and then thought “hmmm… let me just TRY running” – hush, I have never claimed to be smart – anddd, you can only imagine how that went. So, I hobbled back to my room, and… OKAY FINE I just want sympathy. Please send peanut butter fudge and chocolate covered caramels.

Oh, speaking of sympathy, would you agree that there is a difference – a slight difference, to be sure, but a difference all the same – between sympathy and compassion? Even though they are synonyms for each other? Well, okay, let me explain. To me, sympathy is saying: I feel bad for you, while compassion is ACTUALLY feeling bad for you. Am I wrong? AM I HEARTLESS??  If you are wavering on the issue, I am able to help you out a bit because life is good at times and gives me prime examples when I least expect them.  So: A Good Example of the Difference Between Sympathy and Compassion, by Toni Essoe (my sister)(older). Now, although Toni displays ’sympathy’ on a daily basis by saying “I feel bad that you can’t have your very favorite thing in the world, EVER, which happens to be Coldstone’s Ice Cream", she certainly does NOT display ‘compassion’ when she sends me an email that says “We just got Coldstone’s! Mud Pie Mojo for me!” That was a stab in the heart, people, don’t you agree? And exactly the most wrong day to tell me that. Because today is a day when I want to have cheesecake for breakfast, brownies for lunch, and ice cream for dinner. For snacks: chocolate. Any kind will do, as long as it is the kind that comes in large quantities.

I know I talk about this a lot, but I am days away from my 6 month mark here in Korea. I am beginning to realize why most people take their mid-tour around this time – because I am over this being away from my family thing, for realz. The days have been d r a g g i n g lately. Plus, the people I got here with are all getting ready to leave for thier mid-tours in the upcoming weeks, which makes it worse. My only consolation is when they get back from THIER mid-tour, they will still have five months left, but when I get back from MY mid-tour, I will have just under two months to go. But the deal is, people, I MISS YOU!! Well, those of you I know personally, of course. Those who I don’t know, I’m positive I would miss you, if had the opportunity to actually, you know, meet you.

Now, since I don’t want to leave you depressed due to the sudden realization of how much YOU miss ME, I will tell you a bit of good news: I no longer have to work both days of this weekend – I get Saturday off, and start again on Sunday. I like this. It makes me happy.

My guess was Angelina Jolie. What?!

Ha ha, I’m so dumb. If you have a blog, and to save time, you type your posts up on your free time at work; and at the SAME time are working on a medal citation for one of your troops, don’t mistakenly email your POST to your boss when you ask him to proof read the CITATION. It’s fortunate that we have a lot of down time here, because y’all, that was embarrassing. I was like, oh, ha ha, that’s my diary, hee hee…um? I did not get in trouble, if you were wondering, and yes, I am also typing TODAY’S post up at work. What! Multi tasking is my middle name!

So! Such excitement today! We had a Wing Commander’s Call today, which, on a regular basis: bleh. It’s basically just a widely attended meeting, really, and I’ve already told you about me and meetings (do not mix). So, when we headed out for the 15 minute walk up to main base, we weren’t exactly, you know, excited. But! Matt pointed out the large jet sitting on the runway with the words: United States of America, and we thought: huh. So we quickened the pace a bit, and wondered out loud who it might be, this person who arrived on the large jet. If you were wondering, I guessed: not the right person. THEN! We saw a CONVOY. Cops! Flashing Lights! Evenly Spaced Large Vehicles! Now, me = easily excitable, remember? So you can imagine the state I was in upon seeing this, because people that ride in convoys are generally convoy-able, right? I mean, when I drive around, I certainly don’t get a convoy, whether I think I deserve one or not. FINALLY, we made it to the designated Wing Call Hanger, and I obstacle coursed my way to the front (notice I said WE made it, but only I obstacle coursed, my co-workers were a little eye-roll-y at this point, in regards to me) and staked out a prime spot RIGHT NEXT to the stage – in fact, it was like this: STAGEropeME. And, after 40 minutes of standing around (which, I want to point out, caused a LARGE INCREASE in leg issue, ummm, issues) the EXTREMELY CONVOY-ABLE PERSON (ECP) arrived, and it was…. Not the president. Did I KNOW it wasn’t really the President? Well, yes, but…I am nothing if not endlessly hopeful. Wait – not that I would’ve been excitED, necessarily, to see the president, because, well, I just… wouldn’t have been, but… you have to admit, it would certainly be excitING, to be in the same room as… all the cameras. Are we agreed? Right. So, the ECP was the Secretary of the Air Force, Michael W. Wynne, and he was tall, and talked, and… talked…. And, well…. Talked. And when it got to the point where I thought my leg issue…err…issues would certainly cause me to fall over at any instant, he stopped talking, and left.

I would like to point out that yes, I DO have the camera, JOHN, I just haven’t had any camera related opportunities.
But, since you asked for a picture, here is my desk:
Korea_009_1
I think you will agree that it is a fine desk, indeed.

I also took this picture of our ceiling:
Picture_439
I took this picture to illustrate that there are 16 light fixtures in my office, and they each have 3 fluorescent bulbs, and out of these 48 bulbs, only 12 are working, and none of them are located anywhere near my desk. Please notice the spotlight. (hint: the spotlight is NOT above my desk) (ps: my desk is in the back).  Did you notice that the light stops at EXACTLY my desk?  Funny, that.  Now. Wasn’t that interesting? Aren’t you glad I took pictures?

Oh, I have a little favor to ask y’all. If you signed up for my notify list, but you haven’t been getting updates, can you send me an email? Great.
