Hi, my name is N. Co Herent

Tag: Uncategorizedammogirl @ 5:55 pm

I realize that is SUCH a lame title but I am too wiped to change it.  Pretend it’s the wittiest thing you’ve ever read, and everything will be okay.

You guys.  Germany?  It’s absolutely gorgeous.  GORGEOUS. I am telling you right now, I will love being here.  The base is fabulous, there are trees and green things and good smells and while there is no internet access for people staying in temporary lodging and I am currently sitting in a booth in a Cyber Cafe surrounded by people wearing ungodly amounts of perfume (and seriously, is that necessary?  Can you please not bathe in your chosen scent?) there is! fantastic! jobs!

Oh yes!  I didn’t tell you guys this earlier because I wanted to make sure I absolutely had the job, but I, ME, my very own self, I was hired on to work in a USAFE Headquarters position.  This means absolutely nothing if you are not military, but basically…hmmm…how can I put this…working USAFE HQ is like being hired to work at the main office of, say…General Motors North American division. Basically, I get to have my fingers in the daily operartions of ALL the bomb dumps across Europe.  It’s like a huge promotion, without the pay.  However, it all works out because today was my first day and there is huge desks!  And two computers just for me!  And my own hours!  And trips to the other European bases!

Anyway, we arrived here early evening Thursday, and it’s been non-stop since then.  Our sponsor picked us up, got us settled in lodging, and took us to towns and villages and base tours and I doubt I will ever be able to find my way around by myself for at least another 7 years but let me tell you:  at one point in our village tour, our sponsor (his name is Butch, so that is what he will henceforth be known) said, and I am not kidding, Butch said this: "So…does anyone want anything to drink?  Water?  Ice Cream?"  I could scarcely believe my luck!  Before he asked that, I was starting to flag, mentally and physically, because my transoceanic/international dateline traveling over the past 6 days has left me in a constant fugue state, but…hi, ICE CREAM?  And, it was not just any ice cream, but gelato, which, I can now attest, is akin to heaven.

Right.  I just read back over this entry and am amazed at my randomality.  My excuse is the jet lag.  That and I have 10 days worth of happenings and only 20 minutes of internet time…I apologize for the mess that is this post.

Anyway, we looked at some houses today, and tomorrow we are looking at some more, but my time is up and unfortunately I have to go.  Things are looking very hopeful in the housing section, though!

I’ll try to post again sooner rather than later, and in a more coherent manner.  In the meantime, I love Germany!

Auf Wiedersehen!!!!

Congrads on your getting to Germany and loving it there! Also, Congrads on your new job. That sounds like the coolest job there is! Your own hours?! I wouldn’t even know what to do with that!!!! And the best part….not a gas mask in sight! ;)

Again, I’m not sure I’d want my little Treenster out surveying the operations of actual bomb dumps.. the idea of dumping anything that has potention to explode - which shows really that I have no idea what exactly I’m talking about cuz I’m hoping you’ll say they don’t explode silly - makes me nervous.

Wait.. John had a birthday? You people gotta say something. Geez!

And I’m so very glad you guys like it there! Yay for ice cream. They have lots of other things there too! ;) xoxo
