oh man, i think i’m rambling.

Oh my god, I just wrote an entire 1000 word essay on the benefits of living wills. Just now. Like, why can’t I write a 1000 word essay on the benefits of, say, chocolate? Or wine? I could do my own studies! I could utilize visual aides!

Hmm. You know, not even chocolate and wine essays sound fun to me right now, honestly. What DOES sound fun, like awfully so, is sleep. I am very, very tired because John is in Normandy this week, and I am sleeping in our giant bed by myself. Which, due to my over-active imagination and total fear of dark, scary places, has resulted in two consecutive nightmare-filled…um, nights. Which results in me paralyzed with terror, drenched in sweat, listening to my pounding heart while staring wide-eyed at the shadows in the corner for long periods of time. These periods of time happen to occur in the middle of the night, when I should be ASLEEP, and not doing those other non-sleeping things. And all of THAT results in a poor, tiredy me.

John comes home tomorrow. I am having him check under the bed for monsters immediately. I know they are under there.

two things…

…that both really suck.  ACTUALLY!  Oh my gosh I have three things that really suck, I just remembered!

Okay, the first thing that sucks is having to write an opinion essay on an assigned topic that provokes no response whatsoever.  I can’t write an entire essay about how I just don’t care, can I?  I mean, I’m sure I could, but…I mean, a thousand words worth of why I don’t care?  Probably not the basis of an “A” paper.  I’m just saying.

Also sucks:  having the entire server system go down at work, effectively rendering me useless.  There are definite pros and cons to the cyber workplace, I will have to say.  Pro:  I could technically do my entire job from home, if I had to.  Wait…that could, also technically, be a con.  Hmmm…anyway, Con: spending eight hours staring at a computer which does nothing for you and saying “Call back tomorrow…maybe” to fifty different people who call with questions.

Of course, I COULD have used the time to my advantage and made a pretty healthy dent in the ol’ non-caring essay, but as I didn’t have my text book, I sort of couldn’t.  Oh well, that’s what my free time at home is for, right?  FUN!

And, also sucking, but really, super duper hard:  finding out the day after you purchased your non-refundable and non-changeable-without-astronomical-fees tickets that indeed, the conference you are attending has been shortened from five days to two.  Like I found out today.  And then, I found out that since I am stuck there in Utah anyway, I have to attend ANOTHER conference for those three days, one that will likely kill me with boredom.

Here are two things that don’t suck, however:  the sun is out again, in large and bright amounts.  Hi Sun.  And, I have less than three weeks of class left.

I’ve been thinking about cutting my hair.  I am sort of stuck in regards to style, as I have to have my hair either bunned if it’s long or short enough that it doesn’t touch my collar if it’s not.  In the past, I have followed a cycle of growing growing growing and then choppity chop…a-line bob.  Then I start the process all over again.  Now, however, I am tired of long and I am tired of bob.  I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for cute hair that is either easy to put up tidily or will not touch the bottom of my collar.  Anyone?  Please?

Alright.  Time to manufacture some feeling about my topic.  Wish me luck.

june

Can you believe we are mid-year ALREADY? It’s almost time to start talking about my birthday again. Almost. This year, I will be on the downhill slide to 40. Oh my god reading that almost made me start hyperventilating, so I crossed it out because it made me feel really good to do so. I am NOT going to be almost 40 this year, I’m NOT. Anyway. My birthday is not until August, if you are wondering, but I fully participate in Birthday Month, so I have to start getting ready now, because Birthday Month is only one month away.

It has been raining for a full week straight now, big sloppy drops of rain. It’s great for the grass and the general green-ness that Germany has to offer…annnddd that’s about it.  I realized after the third day that it wasn’t going to stop anytime soon and started carrying an umbrella with me anytime I go anywhere. I have never used an umbrella on a regular basis; I grew up on the Oregon Coast, remember, where daily rain is pretty much the norm, and umbrellas were not cool. And then I lived in places where it just didn’t rain that much. Here, though, I like to park my car at a distance away from my work, and walk everywhere, because everything is close. So I have grown to be friends with my umbrella…and I have a point here, I’m coming to it now: holding an un…folded? Unfurled? Umbrella is a lot harder than you would think it is! What makes it worse is while in uniform, we are not allowed to carry anything in our right hand, so we can be ready to render a salute at any time. So on quick trips, when I don’t take my entire backpack with me, I find myself carrying in my left hand my wallet, papers, and the handle of an umbrella which is constantly trying to blow away in the wind. Yes, yes…poor me, I know.

Today I attended a lunch bbq for my boss, who just put on the rank of Colonel. There was cake there, two big huge cakes slathered thick with this yummy frosting…it was the best frosting of all the frostings. I cut a corner piece, and then I took the knife and scraped up all the frosting everyone else had left behind, and then I ate it all. The last couple of bites I was feeling sick, but still, I ate it all. It was so good.

Alright you guys, my internet keeps cutting on and off so before I lose this entire post, I’m publishing now and calling it a day. Not literally, I’m not going to bed or anything, it’s not even 7pm. You know what I mean.

Happy Friday!

Tschuss!!
