Holy crap! I did it! Thirty posts in a row. I’ll admit, the last half of the month was a lot weaker than the first half but give me a break! Like I have said many, many times before: My life is NOT THAT EXCITING.

Currently I’m sequestered in my bedroom writing papers, because they are due tomorrow OF COURSE, and it’s really amusing to me how desperately interesting EVERYTHING on the internet becomes when I am supposed to be doing homework. I mean, I just spent the last 30 minutes reading spoilers for Gossip Girl, and I don’t even WATCH IT. I even did a furious search to find the promo for next week’s show…that only aired in Canada. The promo, I mean. I read about it in the spoilers and was like, HAVE TO FIND. MUST WATCH NOW. I finally tracked it down and the only reason I knew who the people in it were was because A) I had read about them and B) Lindsey watches the show. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?

And! I STILL want to take FOUR CLASSES next term. WTF! I have some weird thing in my head that thinks the more I have to do, the quicker I’ll get stuff done. I don’t know if that’s true or not but what I do know is the classes I am taking are split between Health Education and Health Sciences and the Health Sciences course fucking blow. They are sooooo dull. Like this weeks second assignment:

For the fourth assignment towards our goal, define medical futility and discuss the ethical implications of futility in the context of Resource Allocation. Should patients or their families have a say as to what constitutes futile treatment? Or is the decision best left to the physician?

I mean, come on. What can you really say about that? Like, you can only support your opinion so much in a two page paper. But the instructor is reference mad! Last assignment I had NINE REFERENCES for a 1.5 page paper, and in his response back to me, he said, “What you could do better: Use more references.”

…WHATTTT? Nearly 1/4 of the entire PAPER was in-text citations! My god! I would be better off searching for the topic on proquest and pulling one fact out of 15 different papers and just write down the citations.

On the other hand, the Health Education courses are all interesting. I’ve liked all…two that I’ve taken. I feel like I’m learning something, you know? So my plan is to knock out all the Health Sciences classes first. I only have two more left. Um…Qualitative Reasoning and Principles in Client Health. I know! Don’t they sound AWESOME?

And yes, right now I am supposed to be writing a paper. Sighhh. I should go. I doubt I’ll post tomorrow, but you never know.

Tschuss!!

Oh my god you guys, we are totally in the home stretch. Do you know what’s really funny? In the beginning of the month, I thought, “Well, this is going well! So much more fun than last year! Perhaps I will keep on posting right through December!”

HA HA HA!

I played Rock Band for the first time in MONTHS today. It sucks a little because we got a new Xbox, which means all my unlocked songs are locked and I have to start over from the beginning. Since it’s been so long, I figured I should start on easy, but after three songs I was totally bored so I jumped to hard, where I…amazed myself with my fabulous drum skilz. It’s like riding a bike! God I love Rock Band. And they have Duran Duran songs now! I downloaded Rio. My next purchase will be Rock Band 2, solely to get Everlong. In fact, I almost braved the day after the day after Thanksgiving shopping crowds to get it but as I was drying my hair my desire to mingle with crowds quickly dissapated. So I sat down and pretended to do homework instead.

Also, I discovered that although I have a sourdough starter ready to go (it’s been fermenting for 9 days–yum), making sourdough bread in a bread machine is not recommended. And we all know that I’m not making bread by…hmm.

Hmm. Hmmmm. Why COULDN’T I make bread by hand? It can’t be THAT hard, can it? I mean, kneading surely isn’t a blast but wouldn’t it be worth it? I might have to ponder that. Do you think the manual way (hand mixing/kneading + oven) uses less energy than the bread machine way? On one hand, the oven is on, but on the other, the bread machine is on for like…4 hours. Or maybe 2 and a half. Either way.

Okay gotta go! One more day!

Tschuss!

Did you get up and go shopping today? I didn’t! Because there is no such thing as Black Friday when you live in Germany. Well, at the BX there is, but trust me…the BX is nothing special. They don’t have anything good, ever, and the prices aren’t as fab as they like us to think they are, AND…when there are exactly two places for Americans to do their American shopping at in a 20 mile radius, you can imagine how busy it gets, especially on today.

Nope, I actually didn’t do any shopping today, because remember, my family doesn’t do gifts anymore, and the girls want cash to buy their own clothes, so: easy. Instead I watched movies and did girl stuff with the girls. John’s leaving tonight to go snowboarding in Austria with Matt; he’ll be back later tomorrow night. And that right there is the one good thing about living in Europe–randomly driving to Austria for a day-long snowboarding trip. Unless you’re me, and you don’t like cold, snow, winter sports, or spontaneous bus rides with strangers. Although, I will say…I don’t like those things a lot less than I used to and right here is where I cross the line with my adoration of Zoloft.

Wait. One more thing, but I’ll tie it into the holiday. I have to tell you that this year the one thing I’m overwhelmingly grateful for is that daily half of a yellow pill, because even John will tell you that I am much, much better for it. OKAY AND NOW I’M DONE.

We had leftovers for lunch today, and pie for dinner, but I have been craving a ham sandwich for the last 45 minutes so I think I’m gonna go make one.

Oh, also, I have my first batch of sourdough starter just waiting to be made into a tasty treat. Tomorrow is the big day. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Tschuss!!

PS only two more days of this THANK YOU BABY JESUS.

You guys, I am as ready as I could possibly be for tomorrow. Ham is defrosted (not a turkey loving fam, us Williams), vegetables are all chopped, pies are made, cranberry sauce is cooling as we speak type/read. I even have a detailed schedule, with temperature charts and cooking times and when what should go where. Target nosh time: 5pm-ish. I keep trying to get my family to accept the ‘eat holiday dinner really early’ concept, but they refuse. Look, I only like it because A) I get to eat dinner earlier and B) the earlier you eat dinner, the earlier you get dessert. Right? And this year the girls made pumpkin pie and peanut butter pie so I’m totally stoked for dessert. Not the pumpkin part of it. I don’t like pumpkin pie. Pumpkin SOUP, I love. Pumpkin muffins or bread, total yum. But the pie…bleh. Really, when it comes down to it, I’m not a PIE fan, period. I don’t like the crust. Or the fillings. I only have 3 exceptions: Pecan, Peanut Butter, and Key Lime. I used to like Mincemeat pie when I was little but it’s too sweet or overpowering or something now. Dramatic. It’s too dramatic for a dessert. If I eat a dramatic dessert, I want it to be one made of intensely dark chocolate.

I’m SO tired today because John and I were up past 11 last night. WE WERE JUST TALKING. For real. But it was a stupid move, because tonight I have a tennis lesson from 8-9pm, and I’m so not feeling that. Unfortunately, since I cancelled last week and blew that 45 dollars, I am sort of forced to go tonight. At least it’s a four day weekend. Yay!

Tschuss!!
