twenty six

You guys, I am as ready as I could possibly be for tomorrow.  Ham is defrosted (not a turkey loving fam, us Williams), vegetables are all chopped, pies are made, cranberry sauce is cooling as we speak type/read.  I even have a detailed schedule, with temperature charts and cooking times and when what should go where.  Target nosh time: 5pm-ish.  I keep trying to get my family to accept the ‘eat holiday dinner really early’ concept, but they refuse.  Look, I only like it because A) I get to eat dinner earlier and B) the earlier you eat dinner, the earlier you get dessert.  Right?  And this year the girls made pumpkin pie and peanut butter pie so I’m totally stoked for dessert.  Not the pumpkin part of it.  I don’t like pumpkin pie.  Pumpkin SOUP, I love.  Pumpkin muffins or bread, total yum.  But the pie…bleh.  Really, when it comes down to it, I’m not a PIE fan, period.  I don’t like the crust.  Or the fillings.  I only have 3 exceptions:  Pecan, Peanut Butter, and Key Lime.  I used to like Mincemeat pie when I was little but it’s too sweet or overpowering or something now.  Dramatic.  It’s too dramatic for a dessert.  If I eat a dramatic dessert, I want it to be one made of intensely dark chocolate.

I’m SO tired today because John and I were up past 11 last night.  WE WERE JUST TALKING.  For real.  But it was a stupid move, because tonight I have a tennis lesson from 8-9pm, and I’m so not feeling that.  Unfortunately, since I cancelled last week and blew that 45 dollars, I am sort of forced to go tonight.  At least it’s a four day weekend.  Yay!

twenty five

So.  The other day at my Thanksgiving feast, I bit the inside of my cheek.  And then I bit it again, and then AGAIN, all in the same spot, until it was a big bloody mess about the size of a pencil eraser.  And it hurt like hell.  And NO, I didn’t do it on purpose.  Since then (it’s been five days), I’ve been verrrrryyyy careful with it, to ensure speedy healing.  And besides occasionally hitting it with my toothbrush, causing stomach turning, spots in front of my eyes pain, I’ve done really good.  It was healing quite well.  Until JUST NOW, when I SNEEZED, and somehow chomped down with my big VAMPIRE TEETH right on the already injured spot.  As a result, I am BACK TO SQUARE ONE.  And it’s Thanksgiving in TWO DAYS, and it HURTS TO EAT.

Do you see the problem?  My mouth tastes like blood.  It’s disgusting.  How will I consume a considerable amount of calories on Thursday if it hurts to do so?  I am in distress.

When I was little, my mom would make me gargle with salt water when I had a canker sore inside my mouth.  I am remembering that that never helped.  I also remember Campho-phenique, applied frequently with a Q-tip. Which also never helped.  But I can still taste it, even now.

Speaking of mom things–did your mom go through the Mentholatum Chest Rub phase where any time you coughed or sniffled she would frost your chest with a thin layer, and then stick a glob up your nose?  Mine did. Also, she would then put a t-shirt on me, and footie pyjamas, and holy god I would get so hot.  I remember laying there saying, “I’m so hotttttt.  I’m sweattyyyyyy.  I’m STEAMINGGGGG.  I’m BURNING UPPPP.”  But still, the footie pjs and piles of blankets remained.  I’m thinking that was the “sweat it out” theory.

Huh.  While searching (admittedly not very intensely) for a link to the Mentholatum I discovered that they no longer sell the snot-green stuff that they had when I was a kid…30 years ago.  NOW it’s Cherry-scented. Mmmm…cherry-scented camphor and menthol.  That sounds great.

Anyway.  Don’t get me wrong.  I have a great mom.  I’m just eternally grateful she did a lot of wacky things when I was younger that I can make fun of now.  ESPECIALLY during the waning days of Nablopomo.

Good god is this month OVER YET?  My life is NOT THAT EXCITING.  Check it:

Today I woke up.  I started coffee.  I peed.  I drank coffee.  I surfed the internet.  I started working out.  I woke Lindsey up.  I argued with Lindsey about whether or not she was going to school (i won).  I worked out more.  I woke Taylor up.  I took a shower.  I dropped the girls off at school.  I worked, ALL FREAKING DAY LONG.  I came home.  I made dinner.  I am now hanging out with Lindsey.  And that is my day.

Seriously boring crap, AND all the snow from last night melted, which really put a DAMPer on things–ha ha! See what I did there?

…OH MY GOD Nablopomo needs to END.

Btw, do you like Jiffy cornbread?  The sweet and moist kind?  Well!  I have found the replacement for it.  I will post the recipe when Lindsey stops reading over my shoulder as I type.

Okay bye.

Tschuss!!
